Kings Road, East Sheen — Contemporary Urban Garden

Project Status: Design in Development

This contemporary garden design project in East Sheen, South West London, explores the transformation of a compact residential garden into an elegant, low-maintenance outdoor space combining modern landscaping with naturalistic planting.

The proposed design replaces the existing lawn with practical paving, introduces flowing planting borders and addresses drainage considerations. A carefully positioned garden sculpture creates a focal point, while the layout balances contemporary structure with softer, organic forms.

The planting scheme combines multi-stem Amelanchier trees, evergreen shrubs, ornamental grasses and flowering perennials to provide privacy, movement, seasonal interest and year-round structure. Layered planting also helps soften boundaries and screen neighbouring features.

Subtle garden lighting is proposed to highlight trees, planting and key features, creating a welcoming atmosphere after dark.

Currently in development, the project demonstrates a considered approach to small urban garden design, combining practical solutions, contemporary aesthetics and thoughtful planting design.
